Maria Jordet is an assistant professor at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences. In her doctoral thesis (2023), she examines voice and temporality, with a focus on the grassroots efforts by folk musicians and children in rural Bangladesh to revive their vanishing musical traditions. Her research also extends to India, where she has conducted ethnographically inspired fieldwork to explore attention and aesthetic learning processes among children and artists who are keeping alive the old tradition of painting with natural pigments.

As a trained psychologist from the University of Oslo (2018), she practices as a therapist at Samtalen alongside her teaching and research.

Jordet is a second-year Research Fellow at the Economy of Francesco (EoF) Academy, an international young scholars’ network that conducts scientific research on themes related to the process of rethinking economics and the pursuit of a fair and sustainable economic system. Additionally, she serves as the editor of the EoF Academy Proview page, a platform bridging the gap between scientific research and divulgation.

She is a former member of the Climate Committee of the Norwegian Psychologist Association and has co-founded Earth Care with Art-Norway – a non-profit organization collaborating with artists in South-Asia to facilitate weekly teaching classes aimed at empowering children’s creative expressions and care for nature.
